Hi, I'm August Mashburn the creator of this story and website. Some quick info on me, I am a psych major with minors in digital studies and writing. This website and project in particular were created for my writing minor capstone. The main purpose of this about section is to give me a chance to talk about why the project is what it is.

The real cause for the writing of this project was to tell a scary story. That is how most of my projects start really. I wanted to do something weird and interesting and I had (have) been working through reading House of Leaves. The book really captivated me and I wanted to do something similar. I am also interested in the epistolary novel and wanted to try my hand at that. In the end neither of these ideas came to fruition because I had an idea I liked far more. That is where this story came from. It is certainly borrowing some ideas from both House of Leaves and epistolary novels but I would say it is still quite distinct from both.

Hopefully you have engaged with and read the story before getting this far into the website. My hope is that it creates an at least somewhat convincing front. I want the anxieties of the character to feel real. I want the reader to imagine they could open a door and find a long hallway there. To feel the space that they are in expand and warp to accomodate the story. Hopefully some or all of those feelings came through for you. I am proud of the story I wrote and the website that goes with it.
