I opened the MAINTENANCE door. With the hallway getting longer and longer it felt like I had to do something. Try something. So I opened the door. I wish all that had been behind it was some mops, brooms, and chemicals. Instead it was another hallway. Stretching out until a sharp right turn. Beyond that it looked exactly the same as the hallway to my apartment. Same style decor and everything. But it shouldn’t have been there. It couldn’t have been there. I didn’t go past the threshold. I knew that if I walked down the hallway, if I took that right turn I wouldn’t be able to make it back, not without preparation. Even with preparation I don’t know if I am ready to do that yet, but I am sure that my apartment is getting bigger. The welcome mat has gotten farther from the door. And some of my other furniture is more spaced out too. If you’d asked me before if I wanted a bigger apartment the answer would definitely have been yes. The expansion keeps happening, and I am worried about what else could happen if the apartment keeps growing.
